Had a nice 3 mile recovery run this morning. It started out cloudy, but then the sun peaked out. I need to get used to sun. Most of my runs are before sunrise/after sunset, but I have a feeling unless we get rained on, I'm going to get a good bit of sun in Chicago in 3 weeks.
Speaking of sun, I ran into a new problem after yesterday's long run. I need to reapply sunscreen during such a long run. My husband told me that's why he has a little tube of sunscreen he keeps with him on long runs. Thanks for the tip, honey! It would have been nice if you'd told me that before I ran.
I have two races this week - both 5K's. One is Thursday morning, and one is Saturday. I'm so focused on Chicago, that I haven't really thought about PR'ing a 5K this week, though it would be nice! My last PR was back in May: 34:20. It was on a cool, cloudy day and a really flat course, so we'll see. Of the 4 5K's I ran in May, 3 of them, the times were really close: 34:39 and 34:40. Then I had a rough 37 and change on a very hilly, humid race.
I had a great surprise last night in my email:
Too bad it's time to work now. Have a great day!
What things have you learned about long runs in the summertime?
What is your next race?
Do you get excited when someone follows your blog, twitter, instagram, etc., or am I just a big newbie nerd?
