What I did this week...

I just realized that I didn't do much blogging this week!  Thankfully, I did get up every morning and got on the treadmill, even when I was in a time crunch most mornings and could only squeeze in 30 minutes.  I seem to be having to squeeze in my runs more and more lately.  For instance, my daughter had to write the essay portion of her high school placement exam this morning, so I squeezed in 40 minutes on the track at school while I was waiting for her.  I'm excited that I actually have time set aside tomorrow for my speedwork.

Here's what else happened this past week:

1.  I signed up for my first race of 2014!  It's a local half that I ran last year, and is my current PR.  It's a small, quiet race, that is about as flat and fast as you can get in Nashville, so it's pretty popular with local runners.  I'm hoping for another PR!

2.  I'm considering an attempt at becoming a "Half Fanatic."  I was checking out their site, and the lowest level to qualify is 2 half marathons in 16 days or 3 in 90 days.  Right now I have The Biggest Loser Half in Panama City on December 29, and the Tom King Half on March 8.  There is another local race in February that I might sign up for, which would get me 3 in 90 days.  I'm still undecided.

3.  The undecided race...It's a state park series race on February 8.  Small (no medal - the race is only $8, or $20 if you want the t-shirt) and run through a state park on mostly gravel trails.  The weather could go either way, and I'm not sure if I'm ready to run a half with such small support.   Part of me wants to say what the heck, do it.  And the other part says that I can't.  Who should I listen to?

4.  I won a shirt!  I was so excited on Thursday to get an email from Mindy at Road Runner Girl.  She did a giveaway for a shirt from Pavement Runner, and I won!  I went online to Pavement Runner's shop and picked out this shirt:

Thanks Mindy and Pavement Runner for the awesome giveaway!

5.  Weight frustrations - Yes, I continually have frustrations about my weight!  I did not have the best week, even though I have been doing a great job with my 5-a-day holiday challenge.  With the weather turning cooler, I am finding it hard to find clothes in my closet that actually fit.  I've got pants that will fit in 10 pounds, but are too snug for public viewing right now.  And then I've still got my circus clothes, which really need to be given away.  Hubby says I should just go out and buy some new things that fit me now, but I don't want to spend a lot of money on clothes that I won't wear very long.  I know that I am the only thing standing in my way to my goal weight.  I just haven't figured out how to push myself down and keep moving forward.

That's about all for now.  The week ahead will be busy, but also holds several milestones.  On Monday, hubby and I will celebrate 18 years of marriage, and my 2 year "runniversary" is next Saturday.

Have a great weekend!

I would consider this a successful week.  I'm learning that I have to do a lot of planning to make sure I get my 5-a-day.  I'm also learning that even after a few days, I'm craving the good foods more.  In fact, I ate two pieces of Halloween candy, and it really just was too sweet, and I found myself craving another banana.

Here's to another great week!
